IGNAZIO FRESU VISUAL ART
Ignazio Fresu was born in Cagliari in 1957. In 1975 he moved to Florence to attend the Academy of Fine Arts. In this city his artistic career began. He has been living and working in Prato for many years. His artistic and exhibition activity is very intense and takes place in Italy and in several foreign countries.
To carry out his works Fresu mainly uses industrial waste and residues of consumer activity; this in order to witness the waste that modern civilization, guided only by the logic of profit, produces uselessly, and the possibility of creating a new world from those mountains of waste.
His creations arise from metal sheets, pipes, industrial residues that are treated with special techniques and subjected to oxidation processes. Among the many exhibitions in which Ignazio Fresu has participated in Italy and abroad is worthy of special mention RE-ART One, a traveling exhibition dedicated to the environment. The thought of the first Greek philosophers (in particular Eraclito), and Gianni Vattimo’s Pensiero Debole constitute the philosophical “carpet” on which the humanism of Ignazio Fresu develops.
Ignazio Fresu è nato a Cagliari nel 1957. Nel 1975 si è trasferito a Firenze per frequentare l’Accademia di Belle Arti. E’ in questa città che ha avuto inizio la sua carriera artistica. Da anni vive e lavora a Prato. La sua attività espositiva è molto intensa e si svolge in Italia e in varie nazioni estere.
Per realizzare le sue opere, Fresu prevalentemente si serve di scarti delle lavorazioni industriali e di residui delle attività di consumo; ciò al fine di testimoniare sia lo spreco che la civiltà moderna, guidata soltanto dalla logica del profitto, produce inutilmente; sia la possibilità di creare da quelle montagne di rifiuti un mondo nuovo.
Le sue creazioni nascono da lamiere di metallo, da tubi, da residui industriali che vengono trattati con tecniche particolari e sottoposti a processi di ossidazione. Tra le molte esposizioni a cui Ignazio Fresu ha partecipato in Italia e all’estero è degna di particolare menziore RE-ART One, mostra itinerante dedicata all’ambiente. Il pensiero dei primi filosofi greci (in particolare quello di Eraclito), e il Pensiero Debole di Gianni Vattimo costituiscono il “tappeto” filosofico su cui si sviluppa l’umanesimo di Ignazio Fresu.
