Commonly translated as ‘mind’ or ‘intellect’, the Greek word ‘Nous’ is a key term in the philosophies of Plato, Aristotle and Plotinus.

What gives Nous its special significance is the value of its activity and to the metaphysical state of things that are ‘noetic’, namely ephemeral, as distinct from being tangible.

The philosophy of Nous Art Gallery starts from the awareness that the mankind is a small part of a larger ecosystem. In this vision, art is the result of synergy between man and natural elements, rather than solely a human product.

For this reason, each exhibition curated by Nous is comprised of a selection of artists who make the four elements the substance of their work, interpreting their relationship with nature with different techniques and materials.

The main venues of the gallery are located in San Gimignano in Via Cellolese, near Piazza Sant’Agostino, one of the most evocative and culturally active areas in the city, and in Marina di Scarlino, in the Kuma Gallery exhibition space.
